Use Paycode to tap into the in-person network with a single integration

A paycode is a unique 14-digit ‘card-like’ identifier which allows a customer transacting in Checkout to start a payment journey on a digital platform and complete the payment at an in-person location on Moment’s network. Merchants can access Moment’s network using our Billing services, however this dual-integration approach may not be fit-for-purpose for every merchant. For merchants already interacting with their customers on a digitial platform (e-commerce site, mobile app, social media), paycode enables merchants to offer their customer’s more ways to pay.

How Paycode works

The payer selects an in-person brand in the Moment Checkout.
The payer is shown unique payment instructions, including the paycode, and directed to pay on our network.
The merchant receives a real-time notification from Moment when the payment is completed.

Integration

Paycode works with your existing integration—you can enable paycode in Checkout using any of our Collect products.

Common Use Cases

Use Case	Description
E‑commerce checkouts	Let customers who don’t want to use cards/bank accounts complete online orders in‑person.
Mobile apps (billers, wallets, super‑apps)	Apps initiate payment in‑app and finish at a retail/agent point on the Moment network.
Subscription & invoice billing	Embed Checkout with paycode enabled in invoices so customers can settle bills at in‑person locations while keeping all billing in one system.
Collections & arrears	Collections teams send Payment Requests with paycode enabled via SMS/email/WhatsApp so payers can clear arrears in‑person without sharing banking details.
Utilities & telcos	Customers start top‑ups or bill payments digitally, receive a Payment Request with paycode enabled, and pay cash or card at any supported retailer/agent.
Insurance premiums	Insurers issue Payment Requests with paycode enabled for monthly or ad‑hoc premiums, giving cash‑preferring customers a way to pay in‑person with real‑time confirmation.
High‑risk or low‑trust segments	Merchants serving customers wary of sharing card or bank details use Checkout with paycode enabled to provide a “cash‑friendly” option with strong audit trails.
Cross‑channel promotions	Campaigns that start online (ads, emails, QR codes) issue Payment Pages with paycodes enabled so redemptions and payments can happen at physical stores.
Agent & field sales networks	Field agents place orders on behalf of customers and share a Payment Request with paycode enabled the customer to pay at any network location instead of handling cash directly.
Social commerce & D2C sellers	Sellers taking orders via social media or chat tools send a Payment Request with paycode enabled as a secure, trackable way to pay in‑person.
Call centres / assisted sales	Agents generate a Payment Reqeuest with paycode enabled during a call so the customer can complete payment later at an in‑person location, with automatic reconciliation.
Partial or staged payments	Allow customers to initiate a larger purchase or lay‑by digitally and then make one or more in‑person payments using Checkout with paycode enabled.
